Instructions for installing the flip badge camera.
Quote from Ddren on August 30, 2020, 2:14 pmThe Flip badge Camera will work with the following Volkswagen equipped with RCD330 plus or most aftermarket units, Perfect installation, plug and play.
Golf 6 MK6/GTI, polo/polo GTI, Passat(European version, not North American version) , CC, EOS, Beetle, Golf 7, Golf 7.5 etc.
You can also add a flip badge camera to the MK5 Golf but it requires some cutting, watch the video below from a customer's experience.

Tip: Before you install the camera, it is best not to bury the wires first. Install all the connections and plugs to the designated positions as shown in the picture, and then test whether you can get the reversing image. Then you remove the screws from the trunk to secure the camera and bury the cables.
1.Strictly follow the installation instructions and connect each wire correctly
2.Make sure activate the back-up camera function of the head unit
3.The trunk handle camera has the same connections No. 6-10. (For jetta 2011, Passat, Tiguan)
Flip badge camera working principle:
There are two independent systems inside the flip badge camera.-No. 2-5 connections are for the work of the motor of flip badge.
-No. 6-10 connections are for camera work.
No. 3 is connected to the reversing light, which is equivalent to the trigger switch of the relay. Only when it receives power from the reversing light, the flip motor will start to work.
1.Black screen fault
When reversing, the screen is always black, and there is no word message show on the screen.
You need to check that the trunk is closed before test.
If you get this picture proving that the flip motor does not work when reversing, but the camera is installed correctly and working well as you get dynamic parking lines. So, Volkswagen badge did not flip over when you reversing, you need to double-check whether connections No.2-4 are correct. This error message has nothing to do with connections No. 6-10.
The No.5 blue fuse needs to be powered directly by the battery (it cannot be powered under the control of the car key, otherwise you will not be able to manually flip the Volkswagen badge on the outside of the car to open the trunk).
Look carefully at the insertion of fuse No.5 in the fuse box position.
The ground wire must be in direct contact with the metal body of the car.
The No. 3 alligator clip must be connected the correct OEM plug for the reverse light. If you modified the tail light, you should pay special attention to find the original tail light plug when installing.
2.The rear view cameras system is currently not avaliable.
The Volkswagen badge can be flipped over when you reversing, but the camera is not available to display the error message on the screen.
If the above error message appears on the screen, it means at least the following two points.
1) The backup camera function of the unit is activated, otherwise the screen will nothing happen when you reversing.
2) Communication between your unit and the gateway is successful.
You need to check No.6-8 and No.10 connections in the picture.
You need to confirm the insertion position of fuse No. 6, and make sure that the tail of the fuse sharer is facing the ground, not the sky. And it must be inserted into the ACC position, that is, controlled by the car key, otherwise the battery will drain.
For the No. 10 blue plug, if your car comes with a blue plug, you can remove the original plug, discard it, and insert the new blue plug into the quadlock in the same position as in the picture.(You need to pay attention to the order of the black wire and the white wire in the blue plug.)
If you want to keep the original blue plug and continue to work, you can do as shown in the video below and move the two pins of the camera into the same position in the original blue plug.

CANBUS+ means CANBUS high,
CANBUS- means CANBUS low.
If the CANBUS connection is upside down or unstable Or the alligator clip No. 9 did not cut skin of the wire and made poor contact, a "No CAN" error text message will appear on the screen, and the dynamic parking line will not work, but usually the reversing image can be displayed normally.
If you can sometimes get an image when reversing and sometimes not, you need to carefully check whether the No. 7 ground wire connection is a metal body, whether it is completely disconnected and not loose.
Additional installation instructions
If your car is a polo, you need to make a note when placing the order because I need to prepare an additional iron bracket for you.
If your car has an OEM flip camera (RGB format), you will also need a trunk latch conversion adapter when you replace the old camera with the new one. Because your original door latch plug is 4-pin and the new camera's door latch plug is 2-pin, you need this adapter, otherwise you can only cut off the two plugs and directly twist the wires together. 1 of 2-pins connect 1 of 4-pins, 2 of 2-pins connect 2 of 4-pins.
If your spot in the fuse box picture above is already taken by an old fuse, you can remove that fuse and plug it into the fuse sharer, then plug the fuse sharer into the fuse box.
If your car is from 2015 onwards, you should have a new style fuse box just under the steering wheel. Then the location of its ACC 12V and ABT 12V is shown in the figure below.
