QA QuestionsCategory: Head Unit QuestionPost Installation Issues

Hi,
I have 2014 Tiguan. I just replaced the working existing OEM radio with the RCD 330 (noname with rear USB). I had no installation issues but after powering up, I am not getting any sound from the car’s speakers and the backup camera is not working. It appears that the radio and carplay functionality is working with no issues except for no sound or camera functionality. Regarding the sound, on the screen, it shows a speaker icon with a line through it, like it’s muted, but I don’t know how to make the sound work and it doesn’t change for any different input (radio, phone, etc). There is no manual with the radio or anything regarding setup and I’m not sure if I can reset everything without causing issues.
For the camera, when I put the car in reverse, it says camera is not currently available and then goes back to the main screen.
Also, after I hooked everything back up, I now have an air bag error even though I did not unplug it during the install.

Please help 🙂
Rob

Hello, first of all I think the biggest possibility is that your car has a sound system, there are amplifiers, but you did not change the coding, causing your car’s sound system does not work for the RCD330plus.
Another possibility is that your car has a sound system, but you haven’t changed the coding, which will also make the RCD330plus silent.
Using VCDs to change the encoding can solve your sound system problems.

As for the OEM camera, if your car has the original backup camera, then it will not work for the RCD 330 plus, because your original camera is RGB format, and the RCD 330 plus only supports cvbs camera.

You can either install the correct camera or turn off the backup camera feature via VCDS.
