If your car is equipped with the multifunction steering wheel shown in the image (with 8 buttons), you will need to install a simulator; otherwise, your multifunction steering wheel will not be able to fully control the RCD330.

For some Golf MK5 models produced in 2008, with gateway part numbers 1K0 907 530Q or higher, there is no battery drain issue.
If your OEM unit is an RNS510 or RCD510, you can directly replace them with an RCD330 without encountering a battery drain issue.
For others, your car has a battery drain issue. Here are the solutions:
–Replace the old gateway with a new one;
–Find a new ACC 12V for the RCD330 in the fuse box;
–About 90% of Volkswagen pre 2007 can resolve the battery drain issue by installing a simulator.

Please note that replacing the old gateway with a new one only solves the battery drain issue and does not solve the control issue for multifunction steering wheels (with 8 buttons).
If your car has a multifunction steering wheel (with 8 buttons), you will still need to install a simulator for it.
