I have a 2013 VW Golf that I wanted to check for battery drain issues, as well as whether the A version or the B version is best? It has the base radio and speakers in it now, and I’d like to know:
- Are there any issues with this installation with battery drain? my VIN is WVWDB7AJ3DW126254
- There is an AUX (only) port in the armrest console. Would the Package B cable work in this as a replacement or would the package A shifter port spot be better?
- I have read about reception issues FM/AM with the radio due to which port/cable is supplied. Something about the radio using two antennas? Can you clarify any issues with reception there may be?
- Finally, can you upgrade speakers with this radio and achieve better sound or is it best to stay stock. Are there any issues when upgrading
- Is the firmware edition the latest? V5614 I believe?
First car for my daughter, I wanted this to be a smooth install.

For the 2013 Golf, you can simply replace your original unit with the RCD330Plus without buying any additional adapters. Your car doesn’t have a battery drain problem.
If you want to run the rear USB into the central armrest box, it is recommended that you choose package B. You also need to enlarge the original installation holes a little bit with a utility knife. You can also choose the package A installation location in the persuasion a interface, but the perfect installation location can be installed directly.
I provide you with the antenna adapter, and you can directly solve the problem of antenna conversion.
I really don’t have any more experience to give you about upgrading speakers, I think it best to stay stock.
As for the parts, I will install 5515 for you, of course, I can also provide 5614 for you. Since the iOS update to 15.6, the 5614 firmware has had some compatibility issues, and I’m not entirely sure what the problem is. So I can pre-install the 5515 for you and if you want to get the 5614 I will send you a mail.

I appreciate the response, sounds good. I will try it with the firmware you recommend and then see if there’s an issue and go from there so I appreciate the offer if another firmware is needed. Just one more question, is there a video available on how to get the wire down to the glove box. Maybe you know of one?
