Front Passenger Channel Distortion (Noname 187B Rear USB)
Quote from Kirk Hansen on July 19, 2024, 10:27 pmNot sure when it really became apparent but I noticed the front passenger side audio channel has a bit of distortion unfortunately. I originally thought just the tweeter went pad so ordered a replacement for that but had the same issue and noticed it was in the door speaker as well. I verified the continuity in the wiring between the head unit and the speakers so at this point assume something is amiss in the hardware of the head unit. Maybe a failing component or bad solder joint somewhere
Fortunately it's tolerable at the normal volume levels I play music at but it becomes quickly apparent with harsher fuzziness and pops if I try to turn it up too much. When I played around with the balance and fade, I confirmed it is only affecting the front passenger side channel.
I love everything else about the unit and it's held up great so far, just wondering if ddren or anyone might have any ideas on what to look into to try and fix? I'm comfortable disassembling the unit and checking the circuit board etc. (see photos) but just have no idea where to start looking.
Thank you for any ideas!

I don't have a solution, but I do have the same problem. For me its front driver side. I've replaced the audio system in the car with an aftermarket line out converter and amp. Everything sounds fine until about 50% or higher volume, at which point the front driver side channel distorts and sounds terrible.
I've checked the amp/converter and all the wiring thinking it might be a culprit. (replaced the amp, same effect, replaced the converter, same effect, wiring, same effect). I know its not the speakers because I can get the distortion to swap channels if I change the input channels as well.
At this point I'm inclined to think its something in the head unit, but haven't been able to find any good answers as to what, or how to fix it.
